April 07
This month has been a bit quiet really. I’m just starting to get the paperwork together for the tribunal but it’s so hard to motivate myself. I’m just tired.
Easter was OK as Sunbeam didn’t spend the whole holiday worrying about going back to the unit after the holiday! He only whinged for 24 hours before the start of term which is a first! He must be making progress!
The highlight of the holiday was a flight in a Piper with my brother-in-law who very kindly borrowed the club plane and flew us over the coast and over our house. Sunbeam even took the controls and it was absolutely brilliant. Needless to say he wants to be a pilot now!
I am trying to sort out what provision will be available to Sunbeam for when we go to tribunal. The Cambrian run school is hoping to be able to provide 4 or 5 places to day boys who need help. We are also meeting the new facilitator at a new unit. I had a phone conversation with her tonight and she actually sounds fantastic so perhaps we can start to feel some optimism at last. She has had lots of experience with ASD kids and special needs and seems to fully understand why Sunbeam is like he is and that he doesn’t present as a typical AS child so therefore his needs have been grossly undersestimated for years. We meet next Tuesday (24th April) so fingers crossed!
