Again

Filed under: Family — admin @ 4:27 pm

It was bad enough last time.

This time, though, things are far worse. Three attempts to get to work failed. First time I puked all over someone (and that just isn’t tolerated in good schools.) Second time I was rescued just as I was about to lose consciousness. Third time I haven’t a clue what happened, but the ambulance crossed York faster than I thought was possible during rush hour.

Since this happened I have found it very difficult to leave the house and impossible even to think about certain things. My body, my willpower and my mind have all ganged up on me and delivered an ultimatum. They aren’t playing by my rules any more, and I have to get used to being a back seat passenger for a while.

Darling Wifey is being my guardian angel, and has provided me with lots of safe things to keep me in my ‘comfort zone.’ This week I have to paint the kitchen. Trust me – it is infinitely better than watching daytime television…

  3. Hang in there, Gareth, you know we are all rooting for you. As for daytime television, I heartily agree as I’m off to perform transplant surgury on an engine fan.

  4. I think darling wifey might get a bit upset if I run all the way up to your house just to give you a cuddle to make you feel better! Maybe I will send my little man instead – just watch out though, he doesn’t know when he has hugged someone better too much!

    Thinking of you and M.

  5. I don’t suppose you’d be entertained by trying to invent funny stories that might have happened to a curate, would you??
Thought not…only I’d be delighted to do your painting in exchange.
Hugs and prayers and a few more hugs, my friend

  6. Gareth you know that I think you rock. My house needs painting as well. Longing to see you. As the old saying goes: “‘Smile’ they said, ‘it could be worse.’ So I did. And it was”

  8. Oh Gareth, I thought you’d been quiet for a while. Sure Mic won’t mind if I send you big hugs from the Wool Basket.

Don’t bother with daytime telly though. Buy the complete 5 series DVDs of Babylon 5 instead. Definitely recommended as therapy.

Keeping you all in me prayers

  10. the best bit of painting the kitchen of course
is that it’s not available for cooking
    (or washing up! )
so you get to eat out! how *did* i miss that?

  11. Good god, man. Fret not. I’m on my way over iminently (the visa has been obtained.) All will be well. How long a doctor’s note did you sting them for this time?

  12. Rich and I are sending thoughts your way from the cornfields. If painting is theraputic, you could always paint the kitchen a truly shocking color just to see DW’s face, then go back and do it over again. We’re already stockpiling Scooby Doo goods…anything you’re interested in while we’re at it? We’re certainly not above long-distance spoiling when we can!
