6:15 Easter Sunday Morning

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 7:01 am

I was up at 6:15 today sorting out breakfast for our three little ones and the two year old daughter of a friend.

They were a delight, utterly charming, and full of energy and joy.

And when they are all teenagers, I am so going to get my own back on them for this morning.

  1. It’s a major design fault. Why *sob* are adult and child body clocks so out of sinc?

Mornings are for wrapping yourself around a cup of tea and groaning. Not leaping around like maniacs. Will someone please tell my children that.

Still – patience is a virtue. Another ten years or so in this house and revenge will be mine!!!

  2. Um… I’d like to speak up for the children here.

I was *never* a morning person (my mother claims I was, my father disputes this, and says I hated waking up…). I agree with the “morning are for groaning”. Young children have *way* too much energy for that time. My solution: keep them up LATE. Not a very viable or good solution, but if you’re the babysitter… *evil grin* Anyway, PLEASE do not visit this on your teenager. They’ll hate mornings enouogh already. ;)

Becky, or she who NEVER wakes up before noon. Even when she’s at class at ten.

  3. I confess, I don’t get it. I used to be a night person, no question about it. But after years of getting up at 5 day in, day out, for rowing practice, the luxury of sleeping in until 6:15 seems something you should be thanking your children for, not the other way around. I was up at 6:15 to get ready for church today anyway.

Besides, if you’re going to celebrate Easter by giving them chocolate, and sugary treats, you reap what you sow!

  4. I think the revenge idea is really something I use to comfort myself with when I am out of bed toooooo early thanks to the little dears!!
I remember my poor mum trying to get me out of bed for school when I was a teenager and the reality is it was worse for her than for me!!

  5. My dad always threatened a bucket of cold water if we didn’t “rise on command.”

My big brother tested his resolve one morning.

The results kept the rest of us punctual for the next half decade…
