Wednesday Yarn Along

New job plus new church treasurer responsibilities mean that I’m not getting much knitting or reading in at the moment. I can knit on the train, so my socks are coming along and I have also started a ballband washcloth sequence.

I am mostly reading bank statements.

Holiday Booty

In Northumberland this week I found this in a corner of Barter Books in Alnwick. It isn’t dated and has no byline, but I think it is an early book by Michael Pearson. The material looks very similar to that in his most well known book, Traditional Knitting.

Also in Alnwick, I popped into a wool shop and found these in a bargain bucket; lovely merino 4-ply, which I suspect will one day become a woodland scarf.

and naff all reading. But we are having a lovely holiday. North Northumberland is in many ways an ideal location. It’s beautiful, easy to get to, there’s lots to do and most importantly NO MIDGES!

Yarn Along 25th May

I’ve been following small things for a while now and have decided to revive my blog but just for knittery stuff.

So here is my first Wednesday yarn along and a little look at what is on my needles right now.

First up, lets hope this isn’t a metaphor for my life. But the book and the project go very well together, because while I am enjoying them immensely, they are both taking ages to complete. I’m working on Central Park Hoodie (rav linky) and this is my second re-read of War and Peace. I seem to be paying much more attention to the “War” parts than I did on previous readings, when i was far more interested in the family soap opera aspects of the plot.

Nine to Five Socks (not so sure about the way the colours are turning out) and Gareth Malone’s latest book (enjoyable read, definitely recommend for someone who wants to explore classical music and could do with some friendly, non-patronising help)

….or the significance of dates or any hokey stuff like that. But the 19th September does seems to want be a bit of a pushy, extrovert date in my life.

It’s my wedding anniversary and the anniversary of my Dad’s death. Which is a bit of an odd mix.

And I have a wedding to go to this afternoon (friends from church).

And it’s International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Yarrrrrrr!

As Time Goes By

Just realised it’s been over a month since I blogged.

Things have been very manic, mostly to do with work. Also a few ups and downs with Ted. He currently has a nickname of Teddy the Eagle. I shall let readers’ imaginations work out why that might be…………

Only a week to go now to the Beethoven 9 concert, I’m really quite excited – also trying to avoid people with colds, flu or throat infections.
