Progress of a fashion

T is a greedy little tyke. The polite way of describing his behaviour is to say he struggles with the concept of food ownership. Translated; he helps himself to food from anyone’s plate. This makes going to a cafe, a pub lunch or a play barn quite a hair-raising experience. At home we all know that finishing our sausages or fish fingers before he does saves a lot of bother.

So we have actually been working hard to teach him that he is only allowed to eat the food that is on his plate. And I think we are getting somewhere. This evening the boys were eating yummy home-made chicken nuggets. S (the older NT one) sloped off to the loo and by the time he’d got back T had transferred his entire dinner onto his own plate and was tucking in looking very happy and positively angelic.Â

    That is certainly progress.

Note it down in the records and give him his reward.

And be warned - it’s proof that he does understand complex demands, and can develop slightly more complex responses in order to maintain his advantage.

Looks like another little Moriarty in the making…
