Marmite

I have after 40-odd years got to grips with the fact that that some people really don’t like Marmite (their loss I say).

But over the past few weeks I’ve encountered quite a few folks (marmite lovers and marmite haters in equal measure) who have actually never even heard of the world-beating combination that is the cheese and marmite sandwich. How could they have lived in ignorance for so long? It’s as classic as Cheese and pickle, peanut butter and jam, egg and cress.

    bleughhhhh!

Marmite is what the devil himself has on his toast!

    Top three sandwich fillings:
    Prawn mayonaise
    Tuna Mayonaise
    Chicken salad

My senior SNA has marmite & cream cheese on crackers with her tea every morning. It’s driving me demented with jealousy…

You should try the fried bread method that I was brought up on. Spread a thick wodge of lard onto a slice of white bread. Add marmite. Fry lard side down.

    Mmmmmmnnnn.

Have never actually partaken of a cheese and marmite sandwich but being a big fan of the classic cheese and pickle sandwich I may well venture into this exciting new sandwich related revelation.

I think it must be a North/South thing.

Perhaps the Marmite and cheese sandwich is the traditional cuisine of Sussex and Hampshire ;)
